Jim Crowe is a senior associate of the Cognoscenti Group and is responsible for the development of the Group’s learning services. Simultaneously, he is involved in other professional activities including dispute resolution consulting in Vietnam and other post conflict zones, and lecturing to MBA students in economics, business research and management.
Jim’s career has bridged commerce and education. Recently he has been based in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei as the managing partner of Alexander Hughes a major European executive search firm. He has managed very senior executive search assignments for large Australian Industry pension funds including Australian Super, UniSuper and Telstra Super securing European, Asian and North American senior investment professionals. In addition, he has completed senior executive recruitment assignments in the South African, Asian and Australian automobile industries for global brands such as Toyota, Mazda and Peugeot Citroen Automobile.
Jim has lived and worked in Asia for ten years in a variety of roles including as a professional lecturer at Hong Kong Shue Yuan University and as a curriculum advisor at Tung Wah College. He has also been a guest lecturer at National Taiwan Normal University, Taipei; Xi’an Jiao Tong Liverpool University, Suzhou; and RMIT HCMC University in Ho Chi Minh City. Jim has made presentations in Hong Kong and Shanghai at numerous business conferences such as the Asian CFO Summit with respect to developing high performing individuals and the Asian Conference of Training on managing high potential employees. He has been published in the Hong Kong HR Magazine on remuneration trends and performance and the advantages of in-house training and development.
Jim has a bachelor’s degree in political science with a specialisation in Asian politics from the University of British Columbia, and an MBA from Queen’s University. He has taken several certificate level courses in education and training and is pursuing a master’s in education. He has completed a full time 12-month study of Mandarin Chinese at Chinese Cultural University and Taiwan National University in Taipei.
