Cognoscenti Learning (CL) is a division of The Cognoscenti Group specialising in developing and running bespoke executive education courses on geopolitical risk for the business and investment community. In a more turbulent, unpredictable world knowing how to assess geopolitical risk is a core skill for business and investment professionals. In a recent survey by the Bank of England business executives ranked geopolitical risk as the most challenging to manage – above cyberattacks, financial disruption and even an economic downturn. However, much of the available geopolitical risk information and analysis is not well-structured or sufficiently timely for informed decision-making in complex, rapidly moving situations.
To improve geopolitical assessment competencies and embed them into the skill set of the business and investment community, Cognoscenti Learning has developed an executive education curriculum which teaches executives how to professionally evaluate geopolitical risk. Jim Crowe
CL is led by Jim Crowe, an experienced educator with deep knowledge of Asia. Jim’s career has bridged commerce and education. Recently he has been based in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei as the managing partner of Alexander Hughes a major European executive search firm. He has managed very senior executive search assignments for large Australian Industry pension funds including Australian Super, UniSuper and Telstra Super securing European, Asian and North American senior investment professionals. In addition, he has completed senior executive recruitment assignments in the South African, Asian and Australian automobile industries for global brands such as Toyota, Mazda and Peugeot Citroen Automobile. Jim has lived and worked in Asia for ten years in a variety of roles including as a professional lecturer at Hong Kong Shue Yuan University and as a curriculum advisor at Tung Wah College
Alan Dupont
Alan Dupont is CEO of the Cognoscenti Group and one of Australia’s best known strategists, Asianists and thought leaders with an international reputation for his work on geopolitical risk, foreign policy, defence and national security. He has been an advisor to a number of Australian ministers of defence and foreign affairs and has been named by the Australian Financial Review as one of Australia’s top strategists. Alan is a much sought after speaker and commentator in Australia and internationally with extensive experience in designing executive education courses for government and the private sector. He has run executive education courses in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei and East Timor and designed and led the first executive education course for the Australian national security community in partnership with the Faculty of Business at the University of Sydney.
Frank Jensen
Frank Jensen is a key member of the CL team. Frank is an experienced strategy, foresight and innovation management consultant who has worked with both industry and government organisations to embed innovation systems and capabilities. During his career Frank has held senior positions with a wide range of IT, technology and research organisations in Australia, Denmark, Sweden and US where his roles have included managing director, strategy director and global partner manager. As Director of Innovation at the Australian National University Frank was responsible for service innovation including foresight, strategic road-mapping and development of a highly innovative executive education programs where knowledge and know-how are co-designed and co-created collaboratively between the university and industry stakeholders.
